Verdict

Our Verdict on the M.S.

This is Cincinnati's business-side AI master's, run by the Lindner College of Business, and it fits managers and analysts who need to decide, govern and deploy AI rather than build models from scratch.

Any bachelor's field is welcome, no GMAT or GRE is needed, and the pace is flexible. Eng. and the shorter certificate.

The University of Cincinnati is a public research university in Cincinnati, Ohio, accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. The Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence Management is a 30-credit-hour program taught online through asynchronous courses, so you don't need to log in at a set hour.

The program lists AACSB as its programmatic accreditation, which is the business-school accreditor. That matches the focus. The courses lean toward strategy, governance and operations, and the faculty come from the business college.

How it differs from its siblings matters here. The M.Eng. in AI with Science and Engineering Applications is a 30-credit, non-thesis degree that ends in a capstone building new models and algorithms, and it requires GRE scores. The AI in Business Graduate Certificate is 12 credit hours and can be finished in a year. This master's is the middle path, with a management lens and no test requirement.

Online

How the Online Classes Work

Courses are 100% online and asynchronous. You work through material on your own schedule, which is the main reason working adults pick this format. The program starts in Spring and Fall, with January 11, 2027 and August 23, 2027 listed.

Full-time students can finish in three semesters, or 12 months. Part-time students take about nine semesters, or about 36 months. Three years is a long time to stay on pace while a job and family compete for your evenings, so think about how much room you really have each week.

Ask about class sizes, how much live contact you'll have with faculty and what student support looks like for online students.

Fit

Who Should Apply, and Who Should Not

Who It Fits

  • You have a bachelor's in any field with at least a B average, and you want AI strategy, governance and deployment for a business role. You'll need a resume, goal statement and one letter of recommendation.
  • You work full time. Courses are 100% online and asynchronous, and part-time students finish in about 36 months, while full-time students can finish in 12 months.
  • You want to aim the degree at your industry. Eight concentrations are listed, from Applied AI in Finance to Health Care Administration to Digital Marketing.
  • You'd like to test the material first. Credits from the AI in Business Graduate Certificate transfer into this degree.

Who Should Skip It

  • You want to write and train models yourself. The courses center on strategy, governance and deployment, so Cincinnati's engineering M.Eng. or a computer science master's would suit you better.
  • You want the lowest price. At $34,800 for non-residents across 30 credits, it costs more than many online AI master's programs, and you pay the same per credit whether you study full or part time.

Curriculum

Eight Concentrations and the Core Courses

Cincinnati lists four notable courses: Generative Artificial Intelligence for Business, Governance of AI/ML Systems, Machine Learning Design for Business and Artificial Intelligence Strategy and Operational Transformation. Read together, they show the program's aim. You learn what these systems do, how to manage the risks, and how to change how a company works around them.

The concentrations are where you tailor the degree. The list is Artificial Intelligence in Business, Applied AI in Finance, Data Analytics, Digital Marketing, Health Care Administration, Investment Management, Marketing and Quantitative Finance. Ask whether there's a capstone or thesis, and which concentration courses are required and which are electives.

Courses the School Names

  • Generative Artificial Intelligence for Business
  • Governance of AI/ML Systems
  • Machine Learning Design for Business
  • Artificial Intelligence Strategy and Operational Transformation

Cost

In-State and Out-of-State Tuition

Per credit, residents pay $1,145 and non-residents pay $1,160, including instructional, general, technology and distance learning fees. Across 30 credits, that's $34,350 for residents and $34,800 for non-residents. The gap between the two is small, so out-of-state students aren't penalized much.

The per-credit price is the same for part-time and full-time students, so the total stays close to flat however you pace it. If you start with the AI in Business Graduate Certificate, those credits transfer in, which lets you test the material before committing to the whole degree.

Ask what the certificate credits are worth in your plan of study, since the certificate page and the degree page describe the transfer a little differently.

30 credits at $1,160 a credit comes to $34,800 in tuition, before fees. At the in-state rate of $1,145, the same 30 credits come to $34,350.

Trade-Offs

Drawbacks to Weigh

  • It isn't a technical degree. If you want hands-on model building, this program isn't built for that.
  • Part-time students take about 36 months, which is a long commitment.
  • At $34,800 for non-residents, the total is on the higher side, though the fees are already folded into the per-credit rate.
  • Only two start dates a year, so missing the Spring or Fall window means waiting.
