How We Chose These Programs
A program makes this list when the school states a tuition rate, discount, waiver or grant for military members or veterans on the program page or a tuition page it links to. We leave out schools that only say they accept the GI Bill, since nearly every school does.
Qualifying programs are ranked on the same measures used across the site: cost, outcomes, flexibility, depth and track record. Sponsored status never changes a ranking. The details are on our methodology page.
- A military or veteran tuition rate, discount, waiver or grant stated on a school page
- Rates shown only when the school publishes the number
- Ranked by our program score within each degree level
Scores are the weighted sum of five factors (Cost 30%, Outcomes 25%, Online Flexibility 20%, Program Depth 10%, Track Record 15%), version 1.0. The methodology page shows the rubric for each factor.

Why it ranks #1: its school's IPEDS graduation rate is 51% (the highest among bachelor's programs on this list) and it charges $373.80 per credit (tied for the lowest among bachelor's programs on this list).
Military benefitsActive-duty students pay a discounted $250 per credit hour for undergraduate courses here, down from the standard $373.80, and a veteran benefits coordinator works with you one on one. The focus is applying AI inside organizations, which fits service members headed toward management or analyst roles. Military benefitsService members who want to write and test AI systems, not just manage them, get the same $250 per credit active-duty rate as DSU's business-focused option, plus access to the school's veteran benefits coordinator. Terms run 16 weeks with Fall, Spring and Summer starts, which helps when deployments or training cycles shift. - Private for-profit
- Military Rate
Why it ranks #3: it is fully online with 7- and 15-week terms, and it offers a capstone.
Military benefitsBenefits are the draw. Grand Canyon accepts military Tuition Assistance, is a Yellow Ribbon school, waives the Learning Management System and Canyon Connect fees for active service members and spouses, and gives veterans a 10% online tuition scholarship. Courses run seven weeks online. The military rate itself isn't printed, so you'll need a written quote against the $490 standard per-credit price before comparing it with public schools.

Colorado Technical University-Colorado Springs
Online Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence
School based in Colorado
70.5- Fully Online
- Private for-profit
- Military Rate
Why it ranks #4: its school awards about 293 bachelor's degrees a year in this field per IPEDS (more than 5 of 6 other bachelor's programs on this list) and it is fully online with 5-week terms, but its school's IPEDS graduation rate is 19% (the lowest among bachelor's programs on this list).
Military benefitsReduced military tuition rates are open to active duty, Reserve and National Guard members and eligible spouses, which gives families beyond the service member a path in. Five-week courses and Fast Track exams can shorten the degree for people who already know material from their service. The degree totals 183 quarter credit hours and CTU prints no price, so get the reduced rate in writing.

Military benefitsService members pay $250 per credit, below both the $337 in-state and $499 out-of-state rates, and the discount extends to spouses and dependents. Up to 90 transfer credits are accepted, so military training or earlier college work can cut the credits you still owe. Over 36 credits that gap is large, though the $55 per credit technology fee still applies. This is the pick for a service member or retiree with a bachelor's who wants research experience and a thesis, perhaps before a doctorate. Expect independent work, not a course-only schedule.

Know Which Military Benefit You Are Comparing
A military tuition rate is a lower price per credit, and it usually applies to active-duty members. Capitol Technology University and Dakota State state theirs as dollars per credit, which makes comparing easy. A discount is a percentage or an unstated amount, and you have to ask what it comes to.
A grant or scholarship is separate money. South College's Military Grant is need-based, at up to $1,000 per term for full-time students. Western Governors lists an Active Duty Scholarship worth up to $3,000, paid at $750 per term for up to four terms.
Then there are state benefits. Angelo State describes the Texas Hazlewood Act as up to 150 hours of tuition exemption for qualified veterans, spouses and dependent children. NJIT lists a New Jersey National Guard waiver. Check that your state or unit matches before you count on one.
Stack Tuition Assistance and the GI Bill With Care
Military Tuition Assistance has a ceiling, and the schools say so. Florida Atlantic states that it covers up to 100 percent of tuition, not to exceed $250 per semester credit hour or $4,500 per fiscal year. Montclair State describes the same limits.
That matters at a master's price. Florida Atlantic's per-credit rate on this list is $800, so Tuition Assistance covers $250 of each credit and you pay the rest unless another benefit fills the gap. A school with a military rate near the cap, like Dakota State at $250 per credit, can leave little or nothing to cover.
For veterans, the VA says the Yellow Ribbon Program can help pay private school and graduate school tuition and fees the Post-9/11 GI Bill doesn't cover. You need the 100 percent benefit level and a participating school. Saint Louis University, Grand Canyon and South College say they take part.
Ask the School Before You Compare Prices
Many schools on this list print the benefit but not the final price. Grand Canyon offers a special military rate for active service members and spouses in online programs, but it doesn't print the rate. It also waives two fees and gives veterans a 10 percent tuition scholarship for online programs, so the amounts depend on your status.
West Virginia and Drexel have the same gap. Both describe reduced military rates without a number. Colorado Technical University says military-affiliated students may qualify for reduced rates, which means eligibility isn't automatic.
Before you apply, email the military or veterans office with your status and ask for the per-credit price in writing, plus any fees that aren't waived. Ask whether the rate covers the whole program or only the first year. A printed rate is easier to plan around than a discount you can't price.
Pick a Program That Matches Your Schedule and Background
Military life moves you around, so format matters. Western Governors describes its classes as asynchronous, and West Virginia describes its master's as a mix of formats. For the other programs, check the school's page for live sessions.
Prerequisites vary by level. Purdue, Florida Atlantic and Saint Louis University's AI in Medicine program say the GRE is not required. The bachelor's programs, such as Dakota State's two AI degrees, are a way in if you don't hold a degree yet.
The list also includes research degrees. Capitol's master's programs are an MPhil and an MRes, and it offers two doctorates. Those suit a research path more than a quick credential, so match the degree to the job you want.
